Hey everyone, Michael Carter here from Easy Recipes List! Okay, confession time. I love bagels. Like, seriously love them. But, you know, being a nutrition guy and trying to stay healthy, I always felt a little guilty indulging. All those carbs! It’s a constant battle, right? So, I went on a mission. A mission to create a bagel that I could enjoy without the guilt. And let me tell you, I think I’ve cracked the code with this protein bagel recipe! ✨
I’ve been diving deep into sourdough lately – it’s a whole other world, honestly, sometimes a frustrating one! – and while I adore the process, sometimes you just need something quick. Something that doesn’t require a starter and days of nurturing. Speaking of quick and easy treats, if you’re looking for something sweet to go with your bagel (or maybe after!), you absolutely have to check out my Easy Coffee Chocolate Cake and this crazy-good Diet Coke and Cake Mix recipe – seriously, don’t knock it ‘til you try it! And if you’re like me and love a good bagel base, you might also enjoy my Cottage Cheese Bagel recipe for another fun twist. But back to bagels…
I was thinking about this the other day, actually, while I was prepping for a shoot. I was trying to come up with a really satisfying breakfast for a video, something that would keep people full and energized. And it hit me: why not a bagel? But a healthy bagel. And that’s how this protein bagel recipe was born. It’s perfect for meal prepping, too. Make a batch on Sunday, and you’ve got breakfast sorted for the whole week. Trust me, your busy mornings will thank you.

Now, I know what you might be thinking: baking powder bagels? Really? But honestly, they’re amazing. They have a slightly different texture than traditional yeast bagels – a little more cakey, a little less chewy – but they’re still incredibly satisfying. And the best part? They’re so easy to make. You don’t need any fancy equipment or skills. If you can mix flour, salt, and yogurt, you can make these. It’s that simple.
I’ve been experimenting with different toppings, too. Sesame seeds are my go-to – I’m a creature of habit, I admit! – but everything bagel seasoning is fantastic, and I’ve even tried dehydrated garlic and poppy seeds. You can really get creative here. I’ve even seen people adding shredded cheese before baking! I’m thinking Asiago might be next on my list. And if you’re an air fryer fan, you’re in luck! You can totally bake these in the air fryer. It’s even faster! This protein bagel recipe is seriously versatile.

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about the Greek yogurt. I prefer full-fat for the best flavor and texture, but 2% or even 0% will work. And yes, vegan Greek yogurt will work too! I haven’t tested it myself, but I’ve heard great things. The key is to use a thick, creamy yogurt. It’s what gives these bagels their structure. And don’t worry, there’s no weird protein powder or anything like that in this protein bagel recipe! Just simple, wholesome ingredients.

And speaking of simple, let’s talk about the flour. I usually use all-purpose, but bread flour will also work. Bread flour has a higher protein content, which will give you a slightly crispier bagel. But honestly, either one will work just fine. Don’t stress about it! The goal here is to make cooking fun and easy, remember? “Fun, Easier Life!” – that’s my motto, and I stand by it.

So, there you have it! My super easy, super delicious, and super protein-packed bagel recipe. Give it a try, and let me know what you think! I can’t wait to see what you come up with! And if you enjoyed this recipe, please leave a rating and a comment below. Happy baking! ❤️
